Larry here from the home farm. All is well here. But nothing continues to happen in the world of the Larry Myer Tour. All of the shows from St Patrick's Day onward through April and May have been canceled or rescheduled for a later date. This is the longest stretch I've ever gone without playing music somewhere.
Thanks to all that tuned into our Facebook Live presentation. That was a totally new format for me. I had fun with it but it's pretty strange trying to play with purpose and intensity without an audience. Very neat that people tuned in from all over North America, from Seattle to New York City and Calgary to Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Northern Minnesota, Rhode Island, Kansas City, North Idaho and many more. That was the fun result for me, to have a brief moment where we were all connected and I hope it brought some fun and happiness to others. I thought I played pretty good but wasn't much impressed with the sound quality over the web so not thinking that should be a direction for my career.
On these upcoming scheduled live shows, I'm letting each venue choose how they want to handle things. I'm very blessed to be playing music for a living but many of my employers and venues are taking quite a hit right now. I'm going to work with them in any way I can to make it turn out positive. I really don't think that being open at 25 or 50% capacity is worthwhile for most and I hope we can get up and going for real very soon. The dates below are scheduled to happen but it's likely there will be cancelations and postponements so be sure to check with the venue before traveling.
On a personal note, I arrived home to a wreck as my furnace stopped working while I was gone over the winter. I walked into broken pipes and broken appliances. It was a theme. Sometimes a had to fix tools before I could do the repair. But the cupboards and freezer were stocked with some basics and the garden was already coming along. I went out to begin spring preparation by moving a couple of plants. Dug up some parsnips, garlic and sunroots and pared out fresh green onion. Had me a couple of veggie meals and some healthy earthworms for fishing in no time. I didn't realize that I have been preparing for a worldwide pandemic for the last 20 years! Since then I've been able to bring home a couple of nice northern pike and gather asparagus, rhubarb and several very big, tasty pheasant back mushrooms. I'm getting back to my rural roots, hunkering down and practicing my survival skills in my very rural location, (as in nobody else wants to live here), while the rest of the world appears to be in a very real crisis. Tomorrow I'm going to try to fix the lawn mower and get the wood chipper running so I can make mulch for my new apple and cherry trees, and then go assist a neighbor that helped me out when times were tough.
This is what the current schedule looks like. I hope to see YOU, even if it is from 6 feet away.
